Office for Student Organizations, Leadership & Involvement (SOLI)
Designing Awareness Through Student-Focused Branding

Marketing Intern
Madison, WI | September 2024 - May 2025
Overview

At SOLI, I led creative marketing initiatives to enhance visibility for student organizations and campus resources. From designing launch signage to creating branded merch proposals and supporting a major rebrand, I helped SOLI become more accessible and unified—merging strategic design with student-centered storytelling.

Key Projects & Outcomes

CfLI → SOLI Rebrand Graphics

Supported the department’s transition from CfLI to SOLI by designing rollout graphics.

  • Created 7 graphic concepts to announce and reinforce the rebrand

  • Wrote copy and taglines for clarity and consistency across channels

  • Collaborated with staff to finalize graphics for email, website, and social media

Result: Established a cohesive new identity that communicated the name change while maintaining continuity with SOLI’s services.

Merch Strategy Proposal

Developed a branded merchandise strategy aligned with SOLI’s goals and budget.

  • Curated a list of student-friendly merch ideas under a $750 budget (tote bags, pens, water bottles, etc.)

  • Sourced vendor links, created visual mockups, and detailed cost breakdowns

  • Proposed items designed to balance function with branding, making them desirable and practical for students

Result: Increased visibility during the Center’s opening weeks and created consistency across SOLI’s communications.

Newsletter & CRM Campaigns

I took ownership of SOLI’s monthly newsletter and modernized it to better reflect the new brand identity.

  • Managed distribution to 700+ subscribers, ensuring consistent updates on campus resources and events

  • Redesigned newsletter templates to align with SOLI’s rebrand and improve visual clarity

  • Refined content strategy by analyzing engagement trends and adjusting topics for higher readability

  • Balanced event promotion with student-focused storytelling to make the newsletter more approachable

Result: Transformed the newsletter into a polished, consistent communication channel that reinforced SOLI’s rebrand and kept campus stakeholders engaged.

RSO Print & Resource Center Launch

Created launch branding to introduce the new Print & Resource Center and guide students to the space.

  • Designed welcome posters, pillar signage, and branded graphics for high-traffic areas

  • Developed consistent launch visuals aligned with SOLI’s tone and goals

  • Rolled out signage across East Campus Mall to increase awareness

Result: Increased visibility during the Center’s opening weeks and created consistency across SOLI’s communications.

PRC Workshop Graphics & Campaigns

Designed promotional materials to launch the Print & Resource Center and drive student participation.

  • Created workshop flyers, posters, and digital graphics for high-traffic campus spaces

  • Collaborated with staff to align visuals with SOLI’s tone and goals

  • Rolled out signage and event branding across East Campus Mall and student org channels

  • Supported event logistics with clear, eye-catching calls to action

Result: Increased attendance at PRC workshops and visibility of the Center’s services during launch semester.

Reflection

My time at SOLI gave me hands-on experience in designing with clarity and purpose — especially within the boundaries of institutional branding. From launch graphics and pillar signage to rebrand support and merch strategy, I learned how to create visual materials that are not only functional but also approachable and student-friendly. This role strengthened my ability to design cohesive brand systems and showed me how thoughtful, student-centered design can shape how students engage with campus resources.
